Do It Again

I wrote this little devotional with quite a few of you in mind.
Excuse me: I stated that incorrectly.
I wrote this with quite a lot of us! in mind.

I hope it is thought provoking, insightful and a blessing.
I know it was for me.

DO IT AGAIN

Sometimes it’s easy to get discouraged with life.
We get knocked down, beat up, mistreated, lied about, stolen from, falsely accused, cheated on and subjected to all manner of perverse people in a perverse
world.
We can easily find ourselves wondering just what is the use in continuing on.
We wonder if it just wouldn’t be easier to give up and die.
We begin to live our lives distrustful of everyone and skeptical of everything.
We don’t dare venture out into the unknown because the last time we did that … well … we lost property, money, friends, family, the respect of others and
even our own self-respect.
We begin to live in complete surrender to fear.
Oppressed by self doubt, self hatred, self judgment, self ridicule and in some cases self righteousness, we refuse to let people in, we will not build
new friendships or relationships, we think we can do it all on our own. This is in direct conflict with God’s master plan for us.
God intends for us to live lives of relationships. He does not intend for us to become paralyzed with fear to the idea of friendships, relationships, romantic
love, marriage and family.

And yet, more and more people are choosing to live out the remainder of their mid-life to late-life years skeptical, hateful, bull headed and lonely.

This should not be so.
The problem is that we say we are children of God.
But are we children of God only in word or are we children of God in word and deed?
We say we are God-Fearing, Bible-Studying, Jesus-Following, People-Loving Christians.
If this is true, we have an answer to all these crippling problems.
DO IT AGAIN!God causes the sun to shine every morning; whether we can see it through the clouds is not relevant. It’s there warming our part of the world
at that particular time.
If it were not so, our part of the world would become frozen, everything decaying and dying from lack of light.

But God insures that this doesn’t happen day after day after day.
He makes the sun to rise in the east and the next morning He says “do it again.”
He makes the sun to set in the west every evening and tomorrow He will command that sun to “do it again.”
The moon and stars light the darkened night and tomorrow He will demand that they “do it again.”

So … we need to keep going, never give up, never loose faith, never doubt that as bad as things get, our hope is in a God that gives us chance after chance
to get it right and … do it again.
